Utah Insulation Rebates — What Actually Exists

Rebate marketing is full of stale numbers and programs that no longer exist. Here is the current, honest picture for Utah homeowners.

The two utility programs

Some older homes may qualify for energy rebates from Rocky Mountain Power (Wattsmart) or Enbridge Gas (ThermWise). If your home uses both natural gas and electricity for heating and cooling, you may qualify for both programs. Both have criteria and restrictions — home age, existing insulation levels, and verification requirements vary — so eligibility is confirmed per home, not assumed.

Free weatherization for income-qualified households

If your household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, the Utah Weatherization Assistance Program covers air sealing and insulation upgrades free of charge. If you think you may qualify, start there before paying anyone — including us.

What about federal tax credits?

There are currently no federal or state tax credits or incentives for insulation in Utah. Previous programs have been halted. If a contractor is quoting you a project "after federal credits," ask them which program they mean — and be skeptical of the answer.
